I see a lot of men wandering around the lake's and swimming pools of Switzerland apparently completely oblivious to the fact that they are being stared at in total incomprehension and laughed at behind their backs.
Not because of their hairy shoulders, or impressive beer belly but due to their choice of swimwear. Speedo's.
Its a fashion faux pas on a very large scale.
If you are one of these men who insist, for some god alone knows what reason, on wearing speedo's please be aware that everyone else regards you as either gay, a deviant kiddy fiddler or just plain backward.

Next time you are popping off to the lake for a quick dip think...do I really want to wear my waterproof underpants in public, is it wise to be practically naked and showing my arse off to the world, will small children really be impressed that they can see my sausage slipping out for a breather.
Speedo's are wrong, heed the warning and adjust your wardrobe apropriately.


NB. If you are a professional swimmer and competing in an event you may wear them.

LOL that is so funny, i completely agree with you, i had a family member staying with me she is a teenager for 5 weeks this summer, and we went to the pool everyday it was nice, and she could not stop laughing at 1 man he was wearing the most uglyiest speedos we had ever seen

Although now even the professional swimmers have now ditched the waterproof undercrackers in favour of the all over body slinky thing I've seen them wearing (à la Phelps) in the Olympics...

It's hardly an issue if they worn for the purpose which design at a swimming pool or lake. Is a similar one for fat women in high cut bikinis required ?

Dare I add onto that the rule that if one is going to wear a bikini - please control the fuzzy bits escaping from the unmentionable area (as witnessed on several occasions in bathing areas around Zurich ).

Oh god that is horrible to even imagine I can honestly say i have never looked there so i have never witnessed that thankgod.

May I add that if you are female and sunbathing in only a thong, this is fine unless your male partner happens to be wearing the exact same lime green thong.

I have witnessed this in the environs of Zürisee and it made me feel a similar shade of green as the aforementioned thong!

Yes in the end it all comes down to how its applied. A guy with a great bod can look good in a speedo - so he migh get used to it and then grow older and fat and still sport the speedos

Same goes for bikinis - they do not look good on everyone...

As far as hair goes - either never cut it - in which case you do not need a bikini bottom anyway... this is soooo 1963 though... or wax or shave so you have a nice bikini line.. now we are in our decade (brazilians work too )

it is always in the application.. the black bra under the white shirt is not to blame.. so don't blame the speedo - I personally prefer boxer type swim-wear, but speedos CAN look good...

On Speedo's, I think they have attained legendary status and I personally find them highly amusing. I am tempted to buy a particularly offensive pair myself.

I do remember a quite amusing lab session in uni though, when a bloke in my class turned up to do a 2 hour experiment in the aforementioned "David" shorts.

When I meet other Americans expats here I usually congratulate them on learning to fit in and adopting European culture. That was until during a ski trip we went into a sauna post ski and my American guy friend was sporting the speedo. I didn't laugh behind his back though. I laughed right at him.

sorry slighty off topic about speedos, but while i was at the pool i saw a lot of males, and females wearing boxer shorts underneath there swimm wear did anybody else see this?

In my experience, local people here, and the ones who had lived here for long, really don't give a sh*t about what the others are wearing to the beach or whatever other event.

I do look good on speedos, but I prefer the ones that being not baggy still help to cover the fuzzy areas.
