I am looking for some tips on Malta. I am leaving on holidays to this island very soon but so far could not find suitable accomodation (smaller, quieter hotel, near the beach & which part of malta? we will take our 1yr old baby with us) All I see on the net is big noisy chain hotels on this beautiful place. Could you please advise me if you have already been there, or if you are from there? Many many thanks in advance. And apologies if it is the wrong place to ask..

the issue potentially with last-minute booking is that you perhaps don't have the flexibility that you might have when booking months in advance.

Use www.tripadvisor.com to check out your hotels - maybe they're simply not as bad as you're thinking?
