I suppose I'm either a "Re-bonding" or a "Community" drinker. These 2 definitions seem somewhat interchangeable. Do these terms only apply to those who consume 50+ units per week (for men), since I only rarely drink that much. what about those who like to relax in front of the TV with a nice bottle of wine with their spouse a few nights a week, where do they fit in?

The categories seem Englishcentric (role of pub as the third place)... I like the bit about drinking "after finishing the chores".

Nice survey...understand that it is put together by British gov't, but it looks like it was put together by a combination of MAAD and AA (in the US). Those two orgs seem to think that anyone who has a drink must have a problem. I hate the modern 'temperance' movements.

The problem I find here, is not the drinking, but finding a decent Lokale pub in which to do it, where you can bore other locals rigid with your line in chat. The drinking I find is somewhat disjointed and abstract as a result.

Well, Mondays you'll find me being a Depressed drinker and Tuesdays a Boredom drinker. By Wednesday things are looking up and I'll be more of a Conformist sort of a guy while watching the mid week football. Thursdays is definitely a time for De-Stress drinking as people at the office wind up for the Weekend. Friday, we will move through Re-Bonding to Community drinking. Saturday is strictly for Macho and Hedonistic drinking followed by a Kebab. Sunday you'll find me reflecting on where the previous week went with a little bit of Border Dependent drinking.
All in all it's a damn good guide.

Where the catagory for those who just enjoy the taste and effects of a good drink. Or who use liquer as a "loosener" so that they can dance, have fun, and suprisingly speak foreign languages (or just think they are) easier?

There should be a catagory for these types, shall we call them "amusing drinkers", "loose drinkers", drinkers requiring drinks to speak foreign language" drinkers? I certainly fall into these catagories. The BBC article appears to be dealing with different classes of heavy drinkers only.

I only drink a glass of wine with dinner ( but not allways, now I almost completely switched to apple juice ) and maybe one beer per month.
So I could say I am not a drinker.

And for the other end of the scale...
1. Oh no, I couldn't possibly - one sniff of the wine cork gives me a headache!
2. Shandy drinking p*fter.
3. Them that nurse half a lager until closing time.
4. Them that promise to "large it up" on a big night out and end up with one glass of wine and several Britvic Orange chasers.
5. Oh! A half-carafe will do the four of us, won't it? That'll be plenty!
6. Mine's a Babycham...

They could equally be categorised by post-drink behaviour:
Sleepy
Subdued
Dull
Loud
Punchy
Argumentative
