On the Global Handwashing Day (bet you didn't know about that one, ha ha), a pretty funny, or scary, look by the Guardian that Men in the north of England have dirtier hands.

An excerpt: "In Newcastle, swabs of men's hands revealed more than half were contaminated with bacteria normally found in faeces."

On the more serious side, evidence says up to a million lives in developing countries could be saved each year simply by better handwashing with soap.

So, wash your hands after changing those nappies. Or, if you're with a Northern Englishman, make him wash his hands

Thanks for the warning. I'd better not give me dad and friends a hug any more. Saying that that's probably why we in the North kiss and not shake hands.
I've heard say that some individuals can get a tad overwrought about germs.

That's quite a claim given they only sampled 409 people across a country of 61 million. Not exactly a large cross section. A "scientific study"? Give me a break

Oh come on, everyone knows washing your hands is for wusses, or poncey Southerners. Real men wash their hands once in the morning and once in the evening, anything inbetween is fair game.
