Manchester la la la...... Who grew up watching North West Tonight?

How many people on here are from the North West?

I grew up in Macclesfield (shit happens), but noticed that there are loads of Mancs, Liverpudlians and North Westerners on this forum.

So cough up... whose from the North West, and what the funk are we all doing in Zurich????

I noticed a thread about the Roses and James, bring it on.. but what about the Charlies, Carpets, Mondays, Northside, etc etc etc.....

H

P.s. I support Liverpool, so don't misunderstand my la la la's. The la la la's are for the town, not the football. That reminds me.. the La's were wicked too, albeit from Liverpool. And yes, I know the Charlies are not from Manchester either, but they were from Madchester.

I'm a Cheshire lad also, although it was "Granada Reports" back then.

With Tony Wilson before he vanished up his own arse and reappeared as "Anthony H. Wilson"...

Re: Manchester la la la...... Who grew up watching North West Tonight?

I did not grow up watching North West Tonight , since I lived in west yorkshire, but for the last 12 years I have been in North Manchester and had exposure to it.

Currently making do with BBCworld since living in a hotel in Reinach BL.

Ps. I also support liverpool.

Re: Manchester la la la...... Who grew up watching North West Tonight?

I generally count myself as a notherner..

Was born in Leeds...

Moved to North Staffordshire as a child

Then spent last few years of my life in Manchester and Warrington.

And yep am a big lover of James!!!! Stone Roses were good but Ian Brown solo is pretty lame... surprisingly by the end of his solo gig I was enjoying myself.. not sure if thats coz he did some old Roses covers or the fact that because he was so awful I spent most of the night propping up the bar

One thing I haven't noticed a mention of is our beloved Morrissey... Smiths anyone???

Re: Manchester la la la...... Who grew up watching North West Tonight?

Macclesfield isn't that bad - could be worse - you could be from Northwich like me (well, actually Hartford, but that's a blink and you'll miss it kind of place whereas you might actually find Northwich on a map. Gary Barlow used to live in the next village - Norley). Well, Northwich was good enough for Tim Burgess so it'll do me too. Used to go out in Knutsford and Manchester when I was at school/college though as there's not much in Northwich except for park benches. Not my scene.

Why am I here? Because there aren't many German speakers in Cheshire who need to be taught English, so not being in the North West is a vocational hazard as well as a lifestyle choice. You're right though - there are a lot of us about - I know people here from Warrington, Cheadle and Holmes Chapel - nothing like a couple of flat vowels to make you feel at home

Anyway, gotta scoot - flying back to the North West for a long weekend so I'll say hello to the old place for you.

Going on Saturday night - for my sins. Sure I'm too old to be let in there those these days. Suppose there's one way to find out. . .

42nd street - Bumped into the stone roses there when second coming came out, felt like I had spent time with God.

the ritz - bouncy dancefloor... what more do you want?

5th ave - I swear you could walk into 5th avenue in 10 years time and it'll still be banging out the tunes I grew up with. What a place.
