Sir Cliff Richards

What can you say about this incredible man? Sir Cliff, has had fantastic hits in the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and noughties. Could we put this down to his celibacy and does that necessarily make him one of the worlds most famous tossers? Personally, as a married man and therefore, celibate myself, am probably, just desperately jealous of his fame, not to mention his unlimited talent.

Except for the (alleged) kiddie fiddling he might have something in common with Michael Jackson!

Who? Btw, is there an "s" in his name?

Of course he is celibate- he lives with an ex-priest.

Yeah! funnily enough I started this thread because, raincookie mentioned Cliff, on the Michael Jackson thread, which was going, or had gone, a long way down that, alleged, road and so I got her to elope, to this new thread with Cliff and I. I think that she is quite safe 'cos Cliff and I are harmless to women and children. BTW Eire, Happy St Paddy's Day to you.

Beats me? I'm not a fan at all. Once some years back, someone bought my ex and I, some tickets to see his West End Musical, "Time." Now I knew before I went and going only confirmed, that it was sh!te.

Ahh! The Young Ones eh, brilliant.
I could only stomach about 20 seconds of Cliff coming on though. What a freakin mullet, he had then! I wonder if he got his "Livin' Doll" from Ann Summers? And does that really count as being celibate?

Excellent connection then! But alas I couldn't watch it for long enough to see the moonwalk.

Reminds me of a VERY old joke:

What do Olivia Newton John and Princess Grace of Monaco have in common?

They were both plucked by cliffs

Sorry....

Re: Sir Cliff Richards

Frank Zappa, sheer genius, maestro, song writer extraordinaire, probably the worlds greatest musical arranger, The best guitarist EVER, wittiest lyricist to walk the earth, a true god in human form, of exceptional talent. The greatest band leader and writer of the most versatile and intricate music to bless the ears of humanity... Making jokes from the grave about Cliff. EF is a bizarre place to be right now. I saw Zappa play every single time that he came to the UK and a few times in the States. Of course, Deep Purple, you must be aware, that when, Ian Gillan and Deep Purple sang "Smoke On The Water," it was in reference to someone at a Zappa concert, here in Montreux, setting off a smoke bomb and burning down the old casino. The good old days. Nurse, turn my light off please.

On my first visit to Switzerland I made a 'pilgrimage' to Montreux and stayed at The Eden Palace au Lac where Deep Purple stayed when they wrote Smoke on The Water

I'd probably, drunk just a little too much brandy before I wrote all that about Zappa, he was truly brilliant and he was extremely versatile, so it would be difficult to like all of his music.
Talking of versatility though, Deep Purple, were very versatile. I remember going to see them, play in concert, at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, alongside the Royal Festival Hall, on the South Bank. Performing their Concerto for Group and Orchestra with the London Philharmonic Orchestra. They were excellent. And then we had "In Rock" and then Roger Glover's "Butterfly Ball". Now that's versatility for you.

Re: Sir Cliff Richards

Cliff and Robbie actually have a lot in common with each other, in my opinion of course. They both sing sickly sweet ballads, then crappy pop songs, where they desperately try to be hip. Old ladies with no musical ear, love them both. They are both popular with the uneducated masses, but predominantly, females from this sector. They are both gay as gay can be, but not man enough to exit the closet. Tell me why, If your name was Robert, (a good name) with more derivations than most i.e. Bob, Rob or even Bert, would you be wished to be called Robbie. Unless of course you are Scottish, where it is acceptable, because then, you can wear a skirt without being gay. However, I would even have to put Cliff on a slightly higher level of talent than. Robbie Williams. I think that maybe you can gather that he and his music are not to my taste.
