The Competitions and Free Prize Draws Thread

From time to time, we probably all see free to enter competitions and prize draws on websites, in newspapers etc. There are many out there.

Particularly in the times when many people are feeling the pinch, here is an opportunity to possibly win something for free.

Please post the competition details or links here for others to try to improve their luck.

Please don't include ones that are through premium rate phone numbers etc.

Here is one to start things off.

SBB have a free to enter monthly competition on their website. The answers are really simple and are often on the same page. If you subscribe to their newsletter or enter once, you will get a reminder of subsequent ones (unless you opt out)

This month's is CHF 500 hotel accomodation in Paris

This should be renamed "Increase your spam and junk mail thread".

Each to their own, has anyone won anything worthwhile from these? I hear there are dedicated clubs for this sort of thing.

Then do what I do. Get yourself an account that you only use for competitions etc. It's worked for me for years.

I have a domain that I use just for online signups, then change the user according to the site, so I have something like;

ef@xxxxx.com
adobeservicedesk@xxxxx.com
digitec@xxxxx.com
etc.

so I can see where my junkmail originates and who sold my address. If one of the addresses starts spouting alot of junk then I can just redirect to "blackhole" it at the ISP side.

The links that I will post are from reputable companies (SBB, Swiss tourism etc.) that shouldn't lead to spam etc. I haven't had any problems with these. Like anything on the internet, general caution should be exercised with unknown sites.

As you say, each to their own. I don't make a habit of searching for competitions. I have heard of people who make a living from these.

Yes, the chances of winning are low, but if it is free there is nothing to lose.
