Michel Berger was a french composer who wrote a lot of commercial songs for singers like Véronique Sanson, France Gall, Johnny Hallyday...
I was never that impressed. But I heard this the other day and think it's brilliant. He wrote it during a period of depression after Véronique Sanson left him.
