Do you have any information about that? | | | | | Nope, you're just getting the thick end of my sarcasm quota for the day. sorry | Quote: | | | | | EDIT: I've just re-read you post, and don't understand what you mean by how visual voicemail will impact the people leaving the messages, could you clarify? | | | | | I might get all the ladeez who call me mixed up. Imagine the carnage.
I'm just saying, as nice as visual voicemail is, it will probably be the least used (even though nice) feature on the phone, and is low in my priorities.
Do many of you get hundreds of left messages that it gets annoying to listen to them all one by one?

peter | | | | | Thanks. They should take it off their website if that's the case.

Ya but with 1GB of data volume how long will I be able to browse on 3G? Sorry but I don't really understand these things too much

I use opera mini though, which I think optimises content before it's sent to the phone, so apologies if this post is of no use at all....

if you don't download videos, music etc. the 1gb should last you a month.

I personally would prefer the 16gb version - but on my old iPhone 8gb were enough, really. If I can't get anything else, I'll buy the 8 gig

peter | | | | | For the extra money it's worth having the extra 8gb, just so you can bung on more random movies/applications/music without having to delete stuff.
Though I will still be keeping my 80gb iPod. I'm struggling to keep my music down to that size, 8 or 16 would be an extreme pain. Reason being that I like to have the majority of my collection in my pocket.
But I fear I have veered off topic here..

Quick update:
found on macprime.ch:
"
"there are probably a lot of iPhones - and definitely not only the 8gb version. I pre-ordered mine (16gb, black) from an orange shop on July 4 via fax and was told that they have about 30 other reservations at that time. Today they called me and let me know that the iPhones have arrived and that I can pick mine up on Friday".
So they have actually started calling people. No word on Swisscom pre-orders yet.

All in all I don't care. 8gb were enough on the "old" iPhone. Then again, 8gb might be a problem if you're planning on buying TomTom and they actually allow you to pre-load the map data on the phone. Perhaps it actually is better to wait for the 16gb version if they don't have enough this weekend.

peter | | | | | The way I interpret that is that he/she simply ordered one last Friday, bypassing the supposedly obligatory reservation process online. A poster was promised iPhones on Friday previously in this thread, after exercising consumer rights/bullying customer support.
If true, it wouldn't surprise me if mandated regulations for this launch are being neglected by store employees. Has anyone else here tried just going into a store and testing their luck?

Jees. This doesn't bode well. I went into the Lausanne shop on the day Orange announced the iphone and tried to reserve. I was told that orange.ch was not taking any reservations. I went in again yesterday and had this confirmed. I also 'reserved' using the online form on the day it appeared but haven't received a darned thing today. I was with Orange for about 10 years in the UK and everything was fine except for when I had to dial 150... |

They did seem to indicate they will be getting weekly shipments, after I quizzed them.

| | | "Old" iPhone
Dear All,
Apologies if this has already been solved (I have done a quick search and don't seem to find it anywhere).
I am one of the early adopters and won't be changing my "old" iPhone just for the 3G connection (99.9% of the time use wireless connection and have Swisscom's 200 hour wireless option) and for the GPS receiver (have one in the car and can also use Google Maps).
My questions are:
- Would it be safe to upgrade (using only iTunes and no hacking tricks) to 2.0 now that the iPhone is also offered in Switzerland (I am a Swisscom customer)?
- Would I have access to the visual voicemail?
Thanks in advance,

There won't be a version of the firmware that essentially turns your imported iPhone into an "official" one on Swisscom.
I'm not sure how exactly Visual Voicemail works so I can't help you there.
