Orange offers only 12 months warranty for the Iphone. At least that's what it says on the letter I got with my phone.
I missed the Optima Start package by just a week (registered a week early!) and got Optima 30 ... RATS! | Quote: | | | | | Orange offer a warranty as long as the contract, ie, up to 24 months. Seems fair enough.
This thread is massive! Price plans obviously vary, but I found Orange to be reasonable and competitive. The basic price plan will allow 1Gb surfing, which should be enough unless you spend more than several hours every day on line via your phone. Call and SMS costs are good, along with three free numbers to any network in Switzerland, which accounts for probably 50% of my personal calls. For international, either Skype or a simple landline. It won't break the bank. | | | | | |

Just a heads up for all you fellow iPhone users - this could eat your monthly data allowance and more, potentially costing a lot of money. As the article says it's rare, but. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/11...tion_jpeg_bug/ |

I plugged in my iPhone today, and it offered to update the carrier settings. I'm on Orange, does anyone know what it does?
Currently I have tethering and everything, but I'm worried this might disappear?

Just a heads up for anyone with a UK O2 iphone.... O2 now allow you to easily unlock your phone (for free if you are on contract, or gbp 15 if PAYG), but filling in the following form.... you should receive a text saying the phone is unlocked within 14 days and then you just pop in your other preferred sim and sync with itunes and it will confirm the unlock. https://www.o2.co.uk/apps/help/help?...locking%20Form
that should save some pain from having to jailbreak or pwn or whatever.
its the perfect solution for my gf`s iphone which is a UK one.

If the phone is PAYG then you have to wait 12 months though Apparently the phone is subsidised?
I don't remember asking for a subsidy. I'd pay the extra to have one which isn't locked in all honesty |

My 3GS 32gb arrived yesterday at Swisscom. Exactly 6 weeks to the day after ordering it. Just an indication of what the lead time is these days...

Just got 'my' iPhone back from Swisscom, 18 days after sending it off for 'repair'.
They were unable to repair the cracked glass and just sent me a new one. Not sure why they were unwilling to do so, it is clearly possible with some expertise and about 15 minutes spare by the looks of it on Youtube.
Not that I am really complaining though, the restore from you iTunes backup is fantastic - had never used it before, but it brought everything back, including text messages, notes etc. The new phone is running much faster also (still on 3G 16gb model), so all in all, a bit of a lengthy turnaround, and the Samsung F480 they gave me as a replacement was utter dross, but no real complaints.

So you cracked the screen and they gave you a new one for free? |

i had the same thing once when a hard drive on my mac laptop failed. apple have a program called time machine that backs up the entire hard drive to an external one.... so once i replaced the hard drive in my laptop, my entire system was restored in the same way as the restore for the iphone. dreamy.

@ Krlock - agreed, really made my day seeing that happen for the first time. I feel i might now start using the Mac backup to external HD for my Macbook Air!

I'd like to buy iPhone in Digitec in Zurich. Their site says it's sim-free and costs full price of 1099 CHF. Can I use it with any sim-card in the world or should I consider some unlocking? They say you need to officially unlock the phone by calling Orange operator. Is that true or it's initially unlocked in Digitec?

Unaware of this. Orange generally charge 100 CHF for an unlock if you haven't had the phone for 24 mths (unless you buy it in France where by law it's after 6 months and is free).
You'll then be able to put any sim inside, but the iphone may moan after the 4th different one.

First seriously bad worm for the iPhone http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/11...bercrime_worm/
If you jailbreak your iPhone and install SSH then for gods sakes change the default root password.

My 8 month old iphone had developed a crack on the back, almost in the centre of the.charging point. I don't use a docking station, just the mains or car charger.
I seem to remember other people having this problem to, but can't seem to find it. Is this fix under warranty or will I have to pay for it, and any what that would be?
