A passage to the UK - your favourite spots

We are planning to visit the UK in October.

Whereas I know parts of Scotland, Cornwall and the South Coast (and London of course), I really want to know where the hidden treasures are.

Which place do you love over there?

Rhossili Bay in Gower, near Swansea has always been a favourite of mine. Its been designated an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Norwich and Norfolk, especially the North Norfolk coastline. Norwich really is a fine city and well worth a visit.

Here's three off the top my head:
1. The Yorkshire Dales National Park. Take the train from Settle to Appleby to see wonderful scenery. Not off the beaten track though.
2. Northumberland. Spectacular scenery and little visited. See Alnwick and Bamburgh castles plus Hadrian's Wall.
3. Walk Offa's Dyke on the English/Welsh border (start at Knighton). Also off the main tourist trail.

And yet I just can't shake this mental image of Alan Partridge

North East coast is beautiful:
Newcastle - bridges and renovated Quay area
Hadrians Wall
Bamburgh Castle
Dunster Castle
The Holy Island of Lindisfarne

Enjoy

My favs are:

In Scotland:
- Edinburgh
- Hebrides
- The drive along Glenn Cole / Finnan is stunning.
- Ben Nevis in Lochaber
- St Andrews for the keen golfer.

Cornwall / Devon
- Falmouth, Penzance and St Ives are lovely.
- Head into the county of Devon on your way back to London. The town of Exeter and Torquay are pretty and worth a visit. So is Dartmoor National Park.
- Have a scone with jam and Devonshire clotted cream on my behalf!

Reminds me of a firm of solicitors I once used - Norfolk and Chance.

Cheers,
Nick
