I'm looking for ideas of somewhere to send my mother for 5 days in December. Has to be outside the Schengen, not too far away and preferably warm -she complains too much when it's too cold. She's already been to Egypt and Morocco.

Any ideas??? I'm a bit stuck.

Since is your mother, I have no suggestion. If it was your mother in law, I would have suggested Iraq or Afghanistan

Egypt is usually pretty warm and cheap in December.

According to that picture in that other thread, Malta is part of EU (and uses Euros, good for currency usage / exchange purposes) but is non-Schengen.

It has to be outside the Schengen as she's visiting us on a 90day tourist visa but her flights are 105 days apart. She's already got 10 booked in Morocco so need to take off another 5 days. Thought about Malta but thought it was in the Schengen, I'll check that out.
Otherwise I'm trying to talk her into going on a Safari type trip for a week or so further south in Africa. It's only an extra hour or two flying I guess.

Sarah, I say you are spot on encouraging her to go somewhere else in Africa as she is in that area anyway.

Malta is fantastic in Winter. We have been there in December. You cannot go for a swim, but it's usually quite sunny and you can at times run around in a t-shirt. The island is quite small and you can see it in a short time. Valletta is beautiful, also the nature.

Some remote places have those open door buses, appearing to come from England of the 50s.
