I've not played a game on the PS3 in months! Haven't finished skyrim yet and still have a bunch of unopened games.

| | | Re: [General discussion of] PS3 | Quote: | | | | | Sure have matey, and it doesn't disappoint. Story arc is continuing nicely, they have got rid of planet mining, but kept planetary / galactic exploration with a different mechanism (won't go into too much detail and ruin the surprise!).
Combat is a bit more fluid, but I still find doing stuff behind cover a bit of a pain in the ring.
It imports over 1000 variables from your ME:2 save file (and you keep your level / skills, which is nice) and these shape your game, and allow you to continue in the same vein as before. You can really tell how much effort they have put in to customise your experience based on previous games, that is hugely impressive.
I'd bring it to pretty near the top of your list of games to play - I'm probably 20-25 hours in and just starting to get some progress in the game, the side missions etc have been compulsive playing so not advancing the main story line too much yet. | | | | | Thanks for the info. I'm so tempted to get it, but aware I have a whole bunch of other stuff to finish/start etc. I might wait till the price drops a little on the PS Store.
Do you know if it's possible to import variables from a previously-played PC game? ie are they saved with your Bioware account login info?
I looked for some information on it, but didn't have any luck.

(joining into this thread....)
I have to fully admit that I have that nasty tendency to turn on the PS3 as a form of procrastination and more-over a perfect way of turning off the brain, though quite a few games actually keeps the brain active too, it does turn the brain off from the problems I need to solve during the day (the stuff called 'work') which thus allows one to restart with a new view on things.
My current timesinks are BattleField 3 and Wipeout (ps3 + vita versions), the first primarily because my dad is also playing it and it is a lot of fun when one abuses a VoIP line for in-game chat and run around the map together
Playing Wipeout came back again now that the Vita was released and that versions is pretty neat, especially for longer train rides and other travels (well, upto ~4 hours when the battery runs out...grmbl)
As the last couple of replies where about Mass Effect 3, do note that DUST 514 is coming out on PSN soon and that that will be 'free to play' (though I expect that for 'cool things' you'll have to cash out some money once in a while, as they do earn money too with EVE, thus there must be a catch somewhere).

Want to DL ME3, but don't really have time for it.
Did just upgrade to 3D gaming---very impressed, a must to try out! Going back to a the older games to try them out, very nice with the HUD up front and nicely separated from the moving field of view

Been on another purchase binge on play.com:
4 x superman t-shirts
Warrior (Blue-ray)
Hitman (ps3) pre-order
Entourage Season 8 (Blue-ray) pre-order
I was tempted to get the new Tigerwoods game and also Prototype 2 but decided not to. Any recommendations for other games to order???
cheers

p.s. i am still 50/50 on Skyrim......will probably get it once the price drops.

My current stance though is: finish (that is, complete the story arc) the ones I have already when I get time for that....

Anyone else finished Mass Effect 3 / the series?
I am so p*ssed off with the 'ending' it is unreal, quite tempted to contact the Reapers and give them the address of BioWare HQ.

Is it disappointing from a story perspective or disappointing in the sense that all the decisions you make through the 3 games ended up barely contributing to the ending at all? I haven't played the games and am trying to prepare myself. If it's the latter, I won't be too precious about choosing game events in my playthroughs.

Out of curiosity, did you continue a ME1/ME2 saved game into number 3?

If it's the latter, I won't be too precious about choosing game events in my playthroughs. | | | | | The whole series has been a great story arc, so 99.9% of the time, the story was epic and as good as any film you'll watch / book you'll read.
The decisions made in ME 1 & 2 had more of an effect on the events at the end of 2 / start of 3, but then are generally irrelevant, save for your decision making about the Geth in ME:2, but even then, in the greater scheme of things, the Geth decision doesn't matter. | Quote: | | | | | I've heard a lot about a horrible ending. No spoilers though please!
Out of curiosity, did you continue a ME1/ME2 saved game into number 3? | | | | | I did continue my game from ME:2 into ME:3, which is good for consistency and appearance, but really affects about 1% of your game in ME:3.
The main problem with the endings, apart from the fact that all 16 (3 really) are exactly the same, just with a different colour explosion, is that there is no resolution to anything, you don't find out anything about what happens to the characters, INCLUDING/ESPECIALLY the person who you may have been romancing.
It's basically that the 100+ hours you have sunk into the games did not matter a jot, and in the last 5 mins of it, you essentially choose button A, B or C and get a red/green/blue firework depending on that choice. If you had been a paragon of virtue throughout the series, or the worst renegade, it makes NO difference, did you kill the Rachni Queen? Who cares, doesn't matter...Did you destroy or reprogram the Geth in ME:2, doesn't matter, no difference. The only character who gets a decent ending is Mordin.

I love finding gems on the PS Store (like 'From Dust')........Yesterday i stumbled across 'I Am Alive'.
Not the best graphics in the world, but it has a very interesting fighting system. Scary music is epic........i dont recommend playing alone at night with the volume up........unless you want to poop your pants.
Its cheap (20 CHF) and well worth a purchase.
There is a demo available, i highly recommend you try it out!!
cheers

I was enjoying Skyrim a lot and with over 80 hours in well on my way to another platinum trophy. However the last few days the game has become unplayable. Opening and selecting from inventory, opening chests etc would all take minutes. Also loading a saved game would take somewhere between 5 and 30(!) minutes.
I tried everything to solve this but the game kept being unplayable. By chance I just saw that I ended up with 63233 Beware the Butcher! notes. Don't have a clue how I ended up with these, as far as I know during the mission where you find the notes you only pick up 2 or 3. Trying to drop them as we speak but that already is taking 20 minutes so far. If this won't work I will give up and switch to Arkham City |

Clearly i do not have my finger on the pulse, i had no idea this was coming: CALL OF DUTY: BLACK OPS 2 Pre-order here
I added it to my long list of pre-orders.........my expectations are low, but i am sure its worth a bash.
I just really hope they cancelled the 'infinate spawing' in the solo play........
Thoughts???????????????

There is always a new one coming to take your cash
Seems they have had a good look at Battlefield and are finally introducing at least some flying options along with hopefully some larger maps. Seeing the horsies though I guess they have also peeked at Unchartered where you have a really fun sequence like that...
I'll have to see actual game footage, trailers of movies don't say much about the actual gameplay. And it also depends on time if I actually want to add another game that one plays once and never finishes....

Just gotta say, downloaded and played Journey through to completion (only a 2-3hr game, no deaths etc) the other day, and it is a joy to behold.
Well worth a go.

I'll just have to continue the main story and all the gazillion other things to do until it is fixed.
Having said that, not played much recently, but picked up ME3 whilst in the UK and finally fired up Arkham City. My to start/finish/order list stands as follows:
To finish: - Deus Ex Evolution
- MW3
- AC Revelations
- Arkham City
- Two Worlds II (probably never will though)
- Skyrim
To start: To order: - ACIII
- Black Ops 2 (maybe)
