Theres no doubt that MS stepped up to the plate to deal with faulty xboxs..... i should know as i had the red rings of death twice, and each time, MS sent me a prepaid box to send back the xbox, then within a week or two i received a new one.
given some of the estimates i have heard about the percentage of faulty 360s, i simply cannot imagine how much MS have spent on repairs... i hope they have good insurance!
my ps3 has never been faulty, and i swapped it out for a ps3 slim some time ago to get the fabled DTS-HD light to come on on my AV receiver.
i also agree that the 360 is a great machine with great games and great online capability... but its SHOCKINGLY noisy and yeah, by now they should be incorporating wifi into the box and the power brick too.

Got it today!
This thing is pretty nifty. The disc reading is noisy as hell, but I've been installing everything I can.
So far, I got Gears of War 2 with the console, and borrowed GoW1 and Halo 3 from a friend.
I've ordered these from UK, should get them in a few weeks:
Left 4 Dead GOTY Edition
Fable 2 GOTY Edition
Ninja Gaiden 2 (the PS3 Sigma version is neutered, I want my blood and limbs and flying off!)
Bayonetta (way more graphically superior on the 360)
Should be enough to get me started.
And I tried to demo for Bayonetta and Jezzuuuuz, they weren't kidding, it looks and plays so much better than on the PS3 it's not even funny. Night and freaking day.

I downloaded Battlefield just to test it, but you need a Gold account to play it. Eff that noise. Free on the PS3.
I'll try A.v.P., I guess. Gamertag is Russkovich , but friends lists will probably be of little use to me since I don't really have plans to get Gold.

Ah, apparently the AvP demo is also only multiplayer. Oh well, I've got enough to keep my busy. |

I really wish I could go for Gold, but most of the people I know have PS3s, and I can play online for free there, so I just really can't justify it to myself.

Russkov,
Might or might not be your cup of tea, but take a look at rez hd (there is a free demo). my favourite downloadable game on the 360. let me know what you think.
trivia: back when this was a ps2 title, there was an "accessory" available to let the ladies enjoy this game ever more than the men, apparently....

I had it on the PS2, and played the hell out of it back in the day. It's awesome. It'll definitely always be in the back of my mind as one of my first Xbox Live purchases. If I ever get around to it with all the new games I have to play, that is.
Just a question, I looked at the prices on Xbox Live and it seems to use real money. Am I to understand the European store uses real money instead of points (like the US and UK stores)?

The european store uses points as well. you can buy the points online (easiest) or in stores which sell xbox 360 games, like interdiscount.
easiest to buy online.

Bought the MW2 bundle at Christmas (250Gb hard disk etc.)
I play MW2 and Halo3. I'm also looking for a driving game. I loved PGR3 on the xbox but apparently the 360 followup isn't very good.

not had to pay for gold yet, I still have a load of 1 month free trial cards in games I have bought.
Just played the AvP demo, and I'm totally pants at it was getting killed left right and centre, seems ok though, couldn't get the hang of being an alien though.
Just bought gears of war and army of two so my son and I can go head to head |

There are several sites that sell 12-month Gold renewal codes for 26-30 pounds. Around 50 francs. The codes work on all European accounts. You just need to watch people's reactions in the thread to see which sites are reliable or not.
And here's a recent auction on Ricardo, it's going for 47 CHF: http://www.ricardo.ch/kaufen/games-u...v/an597277134/
The seller is reliable. They scan the codes and send them to you by e-mail.

It honestly felt that good, even in a Mini.
I used to say that Gran Turismo 5 was the reason I'd buy a PS3, but then I got Forza 2, and haven't considered the PS3 since. It's an absolutely excellent game, and Forza 3 is on my list, right after Battlefield: Bad Company 2. (Played that demo too. Horribly addictive, and looks superb)

"I got (insert unnecessary item) for 50% off! I saved all this money!" Umm, sorry honey, but you didn't need to spend that money anyway, so technically you lost the 50% you did pay.
Edit: Whoa, did that sound sexist? Hope not. But oh well, not like any women are reading this thread anyway.
