Re: Weird dreams

I tried to get some coffee from the machine, but it was just hot water. I poured it away, but the drain wasn't connected, so the scalding water went over my foot. I didn't notice the pain for a few moments, then hobbled over to a sink and got icy cold water streaming over my foot that was going red and blistered.

Then I woke up.

Re: Weird dreams

Remembering dreams might be related to age, indeed. It is so that with the age we get less deep sleep and therefore less dreams. But these is average data, so you never know.
It might also be because of the personal situation, I guess.

Something to do with age you think?
Something to do with sleep patterns, which can change with age, but also with many other factors. Lots on interesting stuff on t'web, including http://healthysleep.med.harvard.edu/...terns-rem-nrem

AIUI you tend to remember dreams if you're woken from REM sleep. So if your internal clock has you in a deep sleep when your external alarm wakes you abruptly in the morning, you're less likely to have been dreaming and less likely to remember it if you were. If you typically wake easily from a light sleep (i.e. REM) it's likely that you'll remember much more.

I used to remember dreams very little, for many years, but I'm finding that as I get older I'm perhaps sleeping better (or something) so remember them much more, and I think that's more typical than the other way round.

Actually I think it's the other way round - the deepest sleep is normally non-REM when the brain is least active and dreams are least common.
