Just read this story about the SA Fottball World cup mascots being outsourced to China! The (sub)contract to the Chinese company has just been 'pulled' due to allegations of 'sweatshop' conditions.

The thing that I find incredible about this story is that the original contract was won by a MEMBER of the ruling ANC . . . who then, instead of getting the mascots made in SA, where unemployment is high . . he/she promptly was allowed to outsource the whole deal.

I guess there is always more to the story than there seems to be on the surface, but surely . . . . it couldn't happen in London 2012 . . . could it? . . he asked naively
