In Australia we had an old 1970's show called "Monkey Magic".
It was a Chinese Martial arts show, worshiped by Aussie kids everywhere.
Monkey Magic had a cloud he could fly on, a fighting staff that apparently weighed more than the moon, and fight like an alley cat strung up by it's tail.
I was never impressed by super hero's who wear a mask and wore their undies on the outside of their already tight pants.
Monkey Magic is the way forward
(although I know nobody will know who he is)
Ooh, I love these kinda questions and answered this one a while ago.
Batman.
Has an edge that most superheroes don't and is a lot darker in personality. Also doesn't have superpowers (cheating!) but some kick ass gadgets and just looks cooler.
I would be fingerscrossedman, by day an IT Security dude and by night a caped crusader providing comfort and reassurance to arthritis sufferers across Europe.

I also remember Monkey Magic from the UK in the 80s.
Monkey Magic was in the UK as well ????
Well.... I guess most programs on the ABC were BBC programs anyway, so it makes sense.
Did English Kids used to watch this show, then go outside into the street, grab a stick, and beat each other up?
(not seriously beat each other, but occassionally the claret did flow).
as it is a bit of a mental exercise, why do you need specifics? If you have an idea, put it out there. I just saw Mystery Men the other night, so as long as your 'super power' is not slinging your f*rts at bad guys, I would like to hear about it
For existing ones, I always liked Captain America and Iron Man, as they were normal men, more or less.
And how about a revamped Wonder Woman for the 21st Century?
(I only hope I look this good when I'm 69!)
But since I don't know much about her back story (except we're ostensibly from the same continent) I would go for either Batman, b/c he does what he does by honest hard work and cool gadgets, or Spiderman, because he was a scientist and I like bugs.
