| | | Getting rid of old furniture
I'll apologize in advance for missing the thread discussing this.
I'm leaving the country in a few weeks. The new tenants for my flat have said they are interested in some of my furniture, they are coming by Thursday to take a look. If they won't want to take it, how do I get rid of it?
It's not terribly great stuff, I've heard the Brocki can be picky about what they take (and for me, I like to be charitable, but if they can only take half the stuff that doesn't really help me and complicates my schedule). What other options do I have? I've heard if I can get a "man with a van" we could bring the stuff to the Zurich central garbage place and pay for disposal, are there also companies that can come and take the stuff directly? What sort of costs are involved? I'm offering the furniture free to the new tenants, with the opening catch being they would have to agree to take it all (so that I don't have to worry about disposal). So to be fair I want some idea how much cost / inconvienence I'd be sticking them with by keeping it.
TIA for any responses.

That will work in bits and pieces (and last time I tried to give something away there the person didn't show). I was hoping for one fell swoop.

My husband took a carload of bits and pieces here: ERZ Entsorgung + Recycling Zürich
Hagenholzstrasse 110
Postfach
8050 Zürich
Telefon044 645 77 77
I seem to remember it was free because Stadt Zurich issued us with 'free waste disposal' vouchers - worth up to 100chf each time!

You're leaving in a few weeks? I'm trying to sell my stuff since months! Through iNet, private etc. It's not easy. Most people didn't show up. I'll organise a flea-market next Saturday at home.
Yes, Brocki's are picky! I had the red cross, the blue cross and a common Brocki guy here. They all want around 1000.- CHF to get rid of max. 13 pieces.
Do not wait for the new tentants. If you can sell or give things away, do it! I made a few reserations. Like I said, a lot people didn't show up or changed their minds, etc... You never know.
And for the rest of your stuff; buy these Sperrgut stickers.

I'm willing to give everything away for free, so that (might) help.
The new tenants will be by tomorrow, it sounds like the best option if they don't want everything is to offer to give it for free for a few days, and at the same time organize a guy with a van to help me get the stuff to ERZ, then just pay whatever there. I'm going to ballpark the cost to get rid of it at about 500. Some smaller stuff I can manage before then, but time is short now.
(The electronics shop across the street is also starting to get whiney about taking Swica stuff, on Saturday they tried to refuse to take some really small lamps because "they don't sell lamps")

Hi there.my husband and I have just moved back to Zurich from Austalia, we dont have a stick of furniture, if you could give us an idea of what you have left, we would be happy to collect it all so its off your hands, we wont be picky. we will certainly not look a Gift Horse in the mouth. We dont have anything so we can work from there, Best wishes with your move Joanne & Peter

I believe the free disposal vouchers come included in an annual packet that is sent out at the beginning of the year to each household with the timetable for the recycling. I will take a photo and post.

Here are some photos from the 2009 coupon and the 2011 coupons. I will move soon so if I don't use up all the coupons, I can give them away.

If anyone needs some 100 kg coupons for the "dump", I have four that I have no plans to use before the end of the year. PM me and I'll drop 1-4 in the mail.
