I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but does anyone know a good place to buy turf (preferably in the Rheinfelden area)?

Do you mean turf, as in sod (you know - grass by the meter ), or do you mean turf as in Torf as in peat?

If the second, any garden center will have it - comes in big 75 litre bags. If the former, start by asking at a garden center - if they can't help you they will probably direct you to someone who can, like a landscape or Gartenbau firm.

I've never seen turf in Switzerland. Even landscape garden firms near to me seem to always sow lawns from seed.

It would probably be a reasonable guess that even if you did find turf in Switzerland then it would be ludicrously expensive.

On a positive note, late August / early September is a good time to sow a lawn from seed!

a gardening firm will do you some rolls of grass; my neighbour <spit> had turf laid in his garden.

My dog has dug some huge holes in our garden that I'm going to have to fix before we leave. I was wondering where I could get some turf to make the necessary repairs.

I've been trying to get turf for a while but it appears to be a yet another closed shop i.e. the only place in Switzerland I could find would only sell to registered gardening firms and they hike the rpice to a silly figure. I did enquire in Germany but crossing the border with turf appears to be a no no.

Anyhoo, now is a very good time to level off the holes and put some new seed down - if you can keep pooch off it over the winter it will fix things by the spring.
