Is it me, or is Ikea just a hassle to get things

Any reasonable place to buy curtains in the Schwyz area? I searched but could not find any, mainly in Zurich but did not appeal to me.

But if there is a nice place in Zurich thats not super expensive, I will appreciate the help.

This looks like a wonderful place - and do I really see patchwork fabrics there in one of the pictures?! Looks like i will be taking a trip there also!

The huge one near me (Peseux/Neuchatel) is fab. They also sell lots of smaller ends of rolls, display materials, etc - at ridiculously cheap prices, great for cushions, patchwork or kids clothes. Great for all sewing, craft, bathroom accessories, wedding dress, evening gowns material, knitting supplies. Excellent.

One more question,

at ikea you cant buy comforter/bed sheet sets... is there a place where you can buy all in one? In the US you could buy the comforter (blanket thing) bed sheets, fitted sheets.

Ikea sell all, but so will the larger Migros stores, etc.

Clone, did you bring US sized mattresses? If so, few CH sheets will fit.

(Which is why I have my sheets/bedding shipped from the US... )

We have a standard 160 x 200 cm Swiss bed, and I've found that queen-size sheets bought from the US work just fine with it. (I buy my sheet sets from the US because I like having a top sheet -- not to mention the price savings!). JCPenney.com is one US site that has a really good selection of sheet sets and offers international shipping...

The only place I ever found flat top sheets sold here in Switzerland is at Manor, and they have only one brand and a rather small choice of colors.

But back on topic... Manor actually does have a pretty good selection of curtains, as does the large Interio store in Dubendorf.

I have never found anything like a US comforter here, though. It seems the only thing similar would be the typical duvet. And it seems like all the blankets sold here are too small to cover the entire bed, so I buy those from US sites as well.

Have read posts about customs and VAT. How is it applied to when you buy things from the US? and how much time does it take for shipping? i would love to order from JC penny the things i am used to and so comfortable with! Any experience will be worth a read.
