Repair to internal walls

My appt has the sprayed white walls in some rooms but in some parts it has lifted. Can anyone advise me if it is possible to repair this yourself or is it necessary to get someone in. Does the whole room need to be done?
Many thanks for any help received

"some parts it has lifted"

Not sure what this mean. can you clarify?

What kind of wall is it? Mortar, gypsum board, wood etc.

Re: Repair to internal walls

I presume he means the paint has 'lifted' due to the surface not being prepared properly.

Of course, I'm sure you can repair it yourself - but usually these things are covered by your rental cost. So I'd tell the regie and get them to get somebody in to fix it for you... why pay extra when you've already paid for it in your rent!!!

Re: Repair to internal walls

It is my appt in Switzerland that I own. The suface(finish) seems to be sprayed on as one rough coat, the original surface seems to be plaster. In one or two places the surface has blistered up and is flexible, can be pushed back but will not stay put.

Re: Repair to internal walls

Hmmm, well difficult to solve without actually seeing it...

Is the paint directly on to the plaster (or is it plaster board??)

Or is it on a wall paper base?

Re: Repair to internal walls

It is a thick rough flexible coat which is directly applied to the plaster. 98% approx of the apartment is ok. Has anyone tried injecting some sort of adhesive behind one of these raised blisters to reafix it?

Re: Repair to internal walls

Here in US, plaster is compound for sheetrock or gypsumboard or drywall.
If you have that here is good video:

http://www.prest-on.com/pages/video.asp?video=repair

In either case, you have to scape all unevenness, use scraper and go as deep and wide as it is required, to firm and stable surface. Than apply plaster whatever it is. If you have mortar/lime plaster and it is significant in size than you need mason guy. After that you need to prime surface and couple of coat of paint.

Hope this help!

If you mean plaster for gypsum board, here in US it is called "compound joint"!
Which is basically some sort of gypsum powder, itself.

Yeah. It works better with peelings rather than blisters though; and it's really a short term solution.
