Letting Agent is giving us a cold shoulder when it comes to complaints...

We're currently having trouble getting a response from our letting agent. The main problem is that the outside of our building is covered in graffiti. The OH has complained numerous times and has even offered to paint the wall himself and the agency to just pay for the cost of paint but still no no response.

What can we do? The last response we had from the agent was back at the beginning of summer when they told us they don't want the outside walls repainted because it will get graffitied again anyway.

One could argue that we just live with the graffiti since none of the others in the building appear to have made a complaint either. But, it makes the area look a bit unseemly in my opinion and might encourage more unsavoury characters to hang around. (So far I've come across a couple of tramps who expose their bits just outside the building... )

Customer services is somewhat lacking in CH, it might be easier to find somewhere else to live. Trying to change things is not easy.

If it was like that when you viewed and signed and inspected the place it was a known issue. Now you've signed you want it sorting, maybe you'd have had better luck raising it BEFORE signing. I think you'll struggle with this now unfortunately.

As incongruous as it seems in this otherwise cleanliness-obsessed country - graffitti seems to be tolerated.

Do NOT paint the walls yourself; if you do, you could well find yourself the object of criticism and complaints. Someone won't like the way you've painted it - after all, you don't have a diploma in house painting - and you just might find that you get charged the cost of a professional painter to rectify your 'mistake'. No good deed goes unpunished.

I hate hate hate the graffitti - but it doesn't seem to bother most people here. All you can do is to keep pestering the agent, or to try to convince the other neighbors to join with you in making a request for repainting.

Good luck - but don't hold your breath.

you could ask for it to be painted and offer to pay for it. maybe the other tenants will agree to share the cost.

of course, if it happens again and again, maybe you'll decide it's not worth paying to give them a new canvas every week.
