Move to Zurich, student hall help.

Hi!

I am attending ETH Zurich in February as an exchange student for a couple of months, and I received an offer for accomodation in Zurich.

The student Hall is in Meierwiesenstrasse 62, near the Zürich-Altstetten train station.

Apparently, facilities are great. The only query I have is about the location. As I have never been in Zurich I have no idea whether it is a safe and convenient area.

I would really appreciate if someone could help me with some advice.

Thanks so much

Switzerland, Zürich and that location ( near Tram 4 stop at http://map.search.ch/zuerich/meierwiesenstr.62 ) is considered safe.

Re: Move to Zurich, student hall help.

Thank you jrspet, this is very helpful.

About the price, it's 530 CHF. Is this affordable in relation to Zurich?

Thank you again

For Zürich, it appears to be cheap.

Re: Move to Zurich, student hall help.

Dear jrspet,

Thank you very much for the links. I think I'll just take it. I've been reading an old post here about Altsetten and all opinions seem to be fine.

Thank you once again and if someone has any further information I'll be very grateful.

Cheers

Well, it is your decision. Lodging is difficult in Zürich. Search the forum ( Google powered perhaps ) for WOKO just in case.

Re: Move to Zurich, student hall help.

I would think the location is quite good, close to the Hönggerberg campus and it wouldn't take you long to get to the downtown campus via tram, my guess is around 30 minutes door to door.

It is a woko apartment, right? They are very nice in my experience (I live in one), everything works and it's pretty clean and cheap compared to the rest of the rental "market", it's not uncommon for people to pay 700-800 chf a month or even more for a room. It's also just fun to be around other students, not alone somewhere far away.

I would accept the room without thinking twice. Searching for a room/flat here is a nightmare.

See you at ETH in February .
