We will move to Basel next year. My two boys will study in ISB. They are 4 and 13, they are in different campus. My sons only understand little high German. I wish my elder boy can have some classmates around where we live so he can make more freinds. So any suggestion about where to live? That would be really helpful.

Reinach has a large x-pat population, however that won't help you to integrate with your local community.
Reinach to Aesch is 15 mins by tram.

Anyone has children study in ISB know about where they usually live?
Since when I lived in Cham ,my son went to the ISZL ,but most pf his classmate live near baar or zug, so he feel quite lonely at home. So this time before I moved to Basel I wish I could get that info before I choose the house.

Students at the ISB live all over the Basel area, really. There's a fair few families in Reinach and Aesch but also some live over in France or up in the city. Your older child will be able to get around independantly on the tram to meet up with Friends. Will the little on be going to the local school?

Just something I noticed lately: there is a very good bus connecting the Birsig-valley with the Laufen-valley, so it's easy to live around Thalwil-Bottmingen when working (or having school) just on the other side of the Bruderholz-hill (not its official name, Baslers will correct me on that one, thanks).
I have also noticed quite a few people moving to the part of Solothurn canton close to Basel (Dornach and above) for tax reasons. The commute seems to be all very short with car and all right with tram. Just an observation of people around me in the last years.

With the change of the public transport plan today all over CH, the tram number 10 to Dornach now runs in 7 minute intervals, making it even more attractive to live down there (taxes are lower, good motorway connection etc.)

Villages around Baetwill, fluh and hofstetten are also in Kanton Solothurn. There are some downsides to SO if you are using the local education as the holidays can be completely different to the ISB.
Bear in mind that getting to the Aesch campus in a car may be easy (close to motorway etc.) but the car park is a bit of a nightmare - really it can be hideous at times with some mothers turning up half an hour before the end of school to pick up kids, in order to get a parking space. If you can get an easy ride by tram to the school life is much less stressful (I found).

Thanks for all your info. Since we live in Cham now, my elder son study in ISZL. When he take the bus, some local boys are not very nice to him and other 2 french boys who also study in ISZL . They say some bad words, you can't imagine that they pull the middle fingers to them. My son was so upset because he never meet that before when he studied in Canada. Since his bad German so he don't want to play with the local boys. This time I wish I could find some nice place to live and make it easier for him to make freinds. For my little one he is quite open to others and it's quite easy to make new friends.

Well, when you come over here, get in touch - I have a 13year old boy and live in Reinach.
