As a new years present our landlord decided that all motorbikes need to pay 40 chf per month for parking. Not a big deal but after signing the contract they send me a payment slip for 480 chf (ie annual). Nothing of this sort was in the contract. After me complaining they continue to insist on the full payment. Are they in their right to do this?

At CHF 40/bike, it's cheaper for me to rent two garages (which I do, as I have 6 motorcycles)!

However, I've never had to pay for motorcycle parking before, is it in a covered car park, or what?

I got slammed in December with a sh!!load of bills for annual amounts on everything from parking to swisscaution. Pissed me right the f@@k off too. So when I went away for Xmas holidays and come back I already have late notices because my plan to deal with everything when i returned backfired.

I've got two phone calls I'm waiting to have returned right now to see about payment arrangements. Bloody hell though. When everyone in Switzerland all want their money at the same time it really makes life hard. Normal people don't have that much money laying around [unless they live in Geneve and make 200K].

it's covered parking..yep..nice closed area specifically for bikes. Guess I just have to suck up to paying annually.

and yep...it's a real pain that most insurances and payments have to be made on the 1st January for the whole year. at least we were a bit prepared and saved some money for the January Dip...still annoying though.

It's clearly not worth making 12 payments with all the costs involved for processing such a small amount of money. Personally, except for road tax, I don't have any bills falling in January but on those months which I started whatever it may be. So the 1st. Jan. isn't a Swiss thing.
