Can anyone offer any advice on how to go about selling a Switzerland chalet?

I'm not sure whether I should be looking for estate agents to sell within Switzerland or find a company that specialises in selling to people foreign to Switzerland.

It perhaps depends on how luxury it is. We are selling our (regular) house here and have had a run away success with using homegate. Saving us approximately 30,000 Chf in agents' fees so I am not complaining.

But if you have something rather special, homegate could be a little mundane - and it might be as well to target an international market where you have a better chance of finding your target clientele. Your location says UK so I think you will know which of the upmarket estate agents offer international services (Knight Frank and that sort of ilk).

I was aware of Knight Frank being an estate agent, but I didn't know it was international - so thanks! I'll keep that in mind.

It should perhaps be borne in mind that many Cantons [thinking specifically of Wallis/Valais now] put a moratorium on foreigners buying property in their Canton, as there had been something of an inundation. For this reason, afaik Knight Frank pulled out of selling chalets in CH at that time. However this ruling does not apply to locals, say from Kt. Bern who are looking for a holiday home in Wallis, so it rather depends on which authority you have to deal with.

Looking at their website they certainly seem to have a presence but unless the apartment is really rather upmarket, I am not sure how much there would be to gain by selling through them. http://www.knightfrank.com/switzerland/ Looking at their website might give you an idea of whether your property fits their portfolio.

And try advertising here. We are an international bunch - some of us are even wealthy enough to own a second home (alas not personally speaking ..)
