Re: To find the home away from home

Have a gander at this sticky thread, the sites you are looking for are given, as is quite a bit more useful info.

FAQs - you SURE your question/problem/requirement is unique? Look here before asking

Do be aware, though, that most folks here live in flats, not detached houses - single family homes are in short supply, and expensive. Coming from the US, you may be in for a bit of a surprise when it comes to housing - best to adjust your expectations upfront.

Good luck with your move.

but they are out there (detached houses) but further away which will give you(or your wife in this case) a bit of a commute

Re: To find the home away from home

As an American who relocated here from the suburban life, I can tell you NOT to expect a home away from home at all. What you want just simply doesn't exist here. The size, space, measurements, price, etc are all completely different from what we are used to. Especially price! Parking isn't always included, so if you are bringing a car, expect to pay extra for a space. I strongly recommend you do a ton of research online and see what's available on sites like homegate.ch and comparis.ch. Start setting the expectations now and things will go a lot smoother

Re: To find the home away from home

Hi
Homegate is a good place to start as previously mentioned bit when we used it before our move we were completely mislead as to prices etc as we didn't have a clue about areas/transport links. You have to get out and see what is out there.
