Recommendation for professional assistant for rent apt. search

Hi all,

I am in the process of searching/finding an apartment to rent, but I am having a very hard time booking visits...
either the agent does not speak English, or the current tenant doesn't, or they don't answer the phone, etc.
I am under a lot of pressure at work (what a surprise...) and really cannot spend time much time during the day on the phone trying to book visits...

Would you happen to have some person/professional to recommend who could help me out, at "reasonable" rates?
I just need someone to whom I can forward adverts from homegate, and they would call agents/tenants and set up visits, maybe help me out with the application process or come along to a visit if the current tenant does not speak english...

I have seen members mention that they know people like this, but for the life of me I can't find these posts anymore :-(

If you have someone to recommend, please PM me the details.

many thanks
J.

Wouldn't it be great to call a university student to help you with this? I don't now how you can do that. There must be some sort of job board.

Or Maybe try looking for a virtual assistant.

Re: Recommendation for professional assistant for rent apt. search

thanks for the replies all!

Just to clarify: I am not looking for a full-fledged relocation company/service, as I most probably cannot afford one really

I think have seen posts in the past where people mentioned they knew other people which could provide the simple type of service I am asking for, hence I thought to ask in this thread if you know someone you can recommend...

many thanks
J.

Finding a flat is hard alright, because you need to be in the system officially here. there is a small supply of flats so you need to be on the ground here. I am also looking, good luck and keep trying. Let me know which city, I am in Lausanne and also looking now if i could help you i will

Do you not have a German speaker at work who could help you?

One of the girls I worked with made a lot of calls for me when my wife and I were looking.

we have assistants at work that will help make calls but NOT viewing apartments. I think OP need someone to narrow down the possibilities and go viewing with him to do some translation. Not sure someone at work can do that sort of thing unless it is a friend!

That's not how I read it. I read he wanted someone to make the appointments from ads he selected and then help him with the applications.

I think this is the perfect job for a Uni student with some extra time and good English or a virtual assistant.

Hi jujub,
Have you managed to find something? I am in the same situation, so I will be really glad if you give some info how you have solved it.

Thanks

Re: Recommendation for professional assistant for rent apt. search

www.dominozh.ch could be what you're looking for.

The lady operating it, is herself an expat (if I remember correctly) and speaks perfect English.

There's a small sign up fee and then you only pay once you've got the apartment. Most of the things they have aren't on homegate (and the likes) yet, so perhaps chances are a bit better to actually get something.

Good luck hunting!

Re: Recommendation for professional assistant for rent apt. search

@Jujube

I have seen various threads recommending this webite - http://www.rentarentner.ch/ - for requests such as yours.

It's where experienced, retired people offer their services for a fee to assist others, for example, with RAV interviews, application forms for housing etc, etc.

It is in German but you could ask one of your work colleagues or German speaking friends to help you out with understanding the basic gist of it if language is currently a problem.

See this Google powered search here for threads where they have been mentioned for more of an idea on what to expect if you sign up with them.

All the best and good luck!
