recommended parquet floor polish

After having some work done in the flat, patches on the floor (solid wood parquet) have become 'dusty'. Can anyone recommend a good product to get the wood back 'to new' ? Plus any tips on how to actually do the job would be appreciated.

Re: recommended parquet floor polish

Hi, I recommend:

Parkett-Floor-Polish 4580 via nobs.ch

Give them a call, I am not sure if this is the exact polish for you but this firm sells some of the best stuff

good luck with your inquiry!

Migros, in their "Potz" line has a parkett cleaning / polish liquid. It is basically wax solution -- spread it evenly (I do it with a mop) and let dry for 1 hour.

As a follow up .. am I OK to use a steam cleaner on the parquet floors prior to applying the polish ?

(as you can see .. I'm not too familiar with these activities )

I'm not too familiar with caring for parquet either, so would appreciate the answer as well.

I was doing okay (and even happy) with using a swiffer and swiffer-for-wood to "sweep" and mop the floor up as we're not so bad. Or, well, I didn't think we were so bad. Landlady has come in and was kicking at some imaginary spot on the floor though, hubby said she was complaining about the condition... So, advice on a GOOD (like, really freaking fantastic) product to clean the parquet - without damaging it - would be great!

Re: recommended parquet floor polish

Additional question? How can you erase minor scratches without redoing the whole floor?

I think that you should first tell us, how your parquet is treated?
Varnish or Oil?
The difference in treatment is very large.
Varnish is only on the surface of the wood and the Oil sinks into the wood.
I once saw a floor, where some one tried to repair a Oiled parquet with a Varnish polish, what a mess!

Given my ignorance around cleaning up the floor.. it might come as no big surprise to discover.. I have no idea if it varnished or oiled.. how would I know ? (I'd guess oiled.. there's no 'gloss' which a varnish may imply.. then again there are matt varnishes... if I can crack this I'm off to CERN .. sure solving the riddle of the universe would be easier)
