Hi,

I have registered at the Kreisburos, my current address however I will be moving out in 1.5 months time, and spending 5/6 months maximum staying at a friends address and then finally moving into my new apartment.

She says that there is a 6 month leeway with the Kreisburos whereby when your staying with family or a friend that you don't need to re-register. But anything after 6 months you will need to register ?

For various reasons that I don't fully understand if I stay at her apartment then i've been asked not to re-register.

Is there any truth to this ? And if so do you have a link to more documentation ? I want to know what the legal requirement is, so I know where I stand and don't want to loose my work permit because I misunderstood how the system works.
