Cham... For the english?

Hi all,

I am wondering if there is any English people with kids living iN Cham. My wife and I are trying to find an apartment in and around zug and one that has caught our eye is in Cham but my wife will be looking after our baby while I work and ideally there would be some local English speaking people she can make friends with. If there are does anyone know where we can find them :-)

Ps. Once we start learning A i appreciate it will get a lot easier but neither my wife or I speak Germany this point but it's very important to me that my wife isn't alone while I work

Re: Cham... For the english?

Cham has quite a fair proportion of English (and American, Canadian, kiwi, oz etc) people living there. Not as many as central Zug, but cheaper to live in Cham.

Re: Cham... For the english?

I know English people working in Cham, so I assume that there will be some who live there.

(A few years ago, I went to a bar in a non-descript town in deepest Switzerland. It had an australian barmaid. These foreigners get everywhere.).

Re: Cham... For the english?

The badi( lake swimming pool with playground, small cafe etc.) in Cham is a good place on a sunny day, it's beside the Cham Vilette park. You should hear some english voices and most ex-pats are extremely friendly and will be happy to have a chat with a newcomer.

Re: Cham... For the english?

Thanks for the quick reply. That's great. Outside of season is there any other common areas people go? My wife and baby will be joining me from October so suspect it's getting too cold by then!

Re: Cham... For the english?

I would start with the International moms and kids club (IMKC.ch) and there is also a nice Facebook group M.O.M. Zentralschweiz that has meetups. There are lots of English speaking moms here in Cham, feel free to pm me and I'd be happy to help if I can.

Another English speaker in Cham. As the others have said, there are plenty in town.
