| | | Desperatley seeking somewhere!
Hi All!,
Well against all my instincts , hes' gone ahead and taken the job in Switzerland! So the children and I have chosen not to join him this year but perhaps by summer when they get out for school. The problem is (Besides the serious over pricing in Switzerland!) He is looking for accomadation and hasnt found any yet and his contract is for January! Also I had reccomended to him to get a short lease, three to six months and at as low a cost as possible (as I would like for us to be able to own something....in this lifetime) at some point and a 4 bedroom house is not necessary as we are not stayig with him till earliest July. However as he hopes we will visit before this what is required is a space big enough and a landlord tolerant enough to allow for a family of three + large dog, with a garden or bush nearby for the dog, and handy to my husbands work (somewhere in Lugano?) at a economical rate. We would REALLY appreciate any assistance as soon as possible. Thank you for your time!

hey, check out www.homegate.ch you can put it into english by selecting en over on top right hand side! there you can search for all apartments and houses for rent all over switzerland, including Lugano!
I'm from Ireland to living in basel nearly a year now originally form Kildare! You and your family will love it out here in Switzerland when ye do make the move, its a very friendly country with loads of beautiful scenery and loads of activities to do both winter and summer! Yes it is more expensive than Ireland especially houses but in saying that it is ( i feel ) a better standard of life, I know for me if i had kids id prefer to be brininging them up here in Switzerland rather than Ireland (but thats me).
Yes it'll be a bit scary trying to move to a new country and not speak the language but you will be very surprised as to the amount of people who speak english over here you will have no problems with day to day things like shopping etc.. as for jobs not sure how easy it is to get a job not speaking their language, but with some searching i'm sure you will be able to pick up something.
Best of look over the next few months! Pm if you need any more information i'll try help as best i can!
p.s dont know if you know it already but check out www.comparis.ch for all information and quotes for mortages, car insurance health insurance and alot more!

Try www.immostreet.ch as they allow you to search in English as well.
When we first came over with 3 kids + dog I was terrified that I would have a problem with my dog but the swiss love their dogs and most appts have residents with them.

Hi,
I think he's checked homegate but most leases are for a minimum of a year. Thanks for making things sound positive and please, still keep your "ears to the ground" in case you hear anything about his requirements.
Thanks I look forward to hearing any more of your replies. |

Hi, when I moved to Switzerland I had to look for a place quick, not expensive and just temporal.
I was advice on checking on the Personnel Hospital residences, the company send me an email with the ones arround my workplace.
So I did, I got a Studio and pay 425chf a month with services & tv included (no phone). Then I had time too look for something nice and quitted my agreement just with 2 weeks in advance.
I stayed at the Schlossli Klinik in Oetwil am See. They have rooms, studios & appartments.
BR!

signing a lease for one year in Switzerland legally you do not have stay there for one year you just have find a tenant that uses the flat as a home not a shop or office and can pay the rent.

Hi if your children are going to go to the TASIS school then the staff there have a list of agents with properties. From my experience it is hard to find anything until October or May time and usually the lets are for a year minimum. If you want to e mail me your budget and requirements I am happy to surf around for you and get back to you.
p.s try not to panic we have all been there wit concerns about relocating ......read my previous posts as I was really anxious before we moved here and this forum helped me soooooooooo much xx

Hi!
Thanks, weve got the accomadation sorted! I am now in a bit of a panic about schools! But I think its all sorted (Just hope to grow a money tree by next week!)
Other than that I guess my other concerns are what to do about that awful thing called...(Dramatic music please) WINTER. So after living in the mild South of France, with a big garden for a quick, handy place for the dog to frolic, play and most importantly poo!!! I now have to figure out things like litter training a Great Dane and amusing myself and family, throughout the long, dark, winter months...OKAY, I know I am a panicker!!! Or maybe I just need to keep busy (guess thats what I am sorting out now?!) So any other advice about winter stuff...for little expense or better yet FREE let me know!

Nobody is going to read your question on winter clothing if it is in the housing area.
Read first and if you don't find, post in the correct area.
Thanks.
Look here Shopping Outlet Centres Winter Clothing question! Please Help!!!! What is life like when the cold sets in? |

Hi there,
I read your message and I am desperatly looking to sell my house in Pura which in 10 minutes from Lugano (5 minutes from the airport and 5 mins from Italy). It is a nice mediterranean house with 4 bedrooms and a big garden and is a perfect place for dogs and children. If you want, I can send you more information on the house, just send me a private email to housepura@hotmail.com and I will forward you the documentation. We can discuss details if you are interested. I am flexible to help you. Let me know
Thank you
