Is My Landlord Trying to Cheat Me? ( Nebenkosten issue likely )
Several months after leaving my apartment I've received a bill that I'm greatly confused about and am hoping the wise and experienced members of EF might shed some light on this for me before I confront the landlord.
Basically it's a list of a bunch of expenses for the Liegenschaft (property). It's my first time renting in Switzerland so I don't know if all these charges are justified.
I recall getting bills from the city itself for water, electricity, and TV. I'm confused as to why the landlord is charging me separately for this among all the other miscellaneous expenses. Chimney cleaning? ( I didn't even have a chimney in my unit) Administrative costs? House maintenance?..?! All these expenses, according to the little excel printout I was mailed, comes out to 1012.24 CHF for the 5 months I stayed there from 01.02.2012 to 30.6.2012. Is this NORMAL? or is this over the top outrageous? Because I have no idea. If someone could please tell me if this is your typical Swiss apartment bill or if I'm getting screwed over here, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Re: Is My Landlord Trying to Cheat Me? ( Nebenkosten issue likely )
Thanks for digging those up for me. I was typing landlord in the search engine and couldn't find what I was looking for. Didn't know to type in "Nebenkosten" as my landlord titled the document Heiz- und Betriebskosten Abrechnung which obviously didn't bring anything up in the results.
