Can business lease apartment?

Next week I start a seven month contract in Zurich, to begin I will be in a hotel however my customer has agreed to finance an apartment.

I will not be living fulltime in Zurich, rather flying in Sunday evening and back out Thursday, perhaps staying over one weekend per month.

With my knowledge gained from this forum about availability and difficulty to find apartments, I questioned the Business I'll be working for about the reality of finding somewhere they said it won't be a problem.

Is it common practice for a business to sign a lease? I am thinking from my perspective this would be a considerably the best option and that way they own the commitment should they break my contract.

Please advise me on the strengths and weaknesses of my situation, including any tax implications!

I understand they are prepared to pay up to 4000CHF.
To further complicate the relationship with the company, they are buying a large service from a US company, and I will be paid from the US. I will be treated as a contractor of the Swiss business but lack a formal direct contract.

Do you have the legal right to work in CH, would be my first question.
A company can rent an apartment if they want, it's done all the time....

Re: Can business lease apartment?

I am an EU citizen, British, where the contract continues as intended beyond three months I will register with the canton. I understand that's all that is required.
