Living in Dubendorf

Hi,
Am a software consultant who has just moved into Zürich. I have found an apartment in Dubendorf and will be moving in next week. I just want to hear from people how is Dubendorf as a area to live in. Hope I have made the right choice! and yeah my office is in Dubendorf, that was the primary reason for me choosing this area!

Re: Living in Dubendorf

It may not be the most exiting place to live but it has great connections, a good Migros and Coop, is close to Glattzentrum and has two gym. And it is fairly close to the city. I think you'll be fine. Being close to work is never wrong.

Get yourself a bicycle and ride to the Greifensee possibly along the Glatt river on a nice day. This wil be fantastic!

Also I think it's great that you've chosen to live close to work!

Re: Living in Dubendorf

Like others have said, Dubendorf is not so exciting. But it has all the amenities.

And it very easy to reach Zurich downtown. 4 trains every hour. Ride is 11 minutes on the S9 and 16 minutes on the S14 train.

Also agree with A.Stofer's recommendation of Greifensee. Beautiful lake, Alpine panorama, bird sanctuary, bicycle along the shore (about 20 km), roller-blade on excellent surfaces, cruise the lake, paddle/swim in the summer, etc.

Look at this:

Re: Living in Dubendorf

Its not unexciting either, its got an ice skating rink, couple of decent bars and some slightly less than decent restaurants but its a good place.
The burger shop next to the train station alone makes the place a gem.

Re: Living in Dubendorf

I've been living in Dübendorf for just over a month now and it is a nice place to live.

As others have said you have easy access to Zürich via a 10-15min train ride.

I do agree the town is a little bit 'quiet' also, maybe because it seems like a lot of older people and retirees live here but it is nice none-the-less.

Also if you are into a bit different sports there is a nice 25m swimming pool near the station, a very big climbing gym near the next station (Milandia), running tracks, soccer fields, bike paths... there's enough to do!

Anyway, enjoy the town!

Re: Living in Dubendorf

I've lived here in Dübi for 16 years and I really like it. It's not so big, to be impersonal but not so small that everyone knows all your business. It has a good tax-rate and quite a building boom in the last 5-10 years.

It's location is great.

Re: Living in Dubendorf

Thanks everyone. So I assume I have made a good choice, especially since office just a couple of stops away. I just moved into my apartment yesterday. So I will keep asking you all questions about day to day life in Dubi!

Re: Living in Dubendorf

I just moved here last week as well. I never saw the place before and it's quite a change after Hong Kong. It's a bit less crowded, the rest I don't know yet...

Re: Living in Dubendorf

My husband and I are planning to move to Duebendorf at the beginning of July. Our primary reasons for moving there are that it will be close to where I will be working. It will make coming home over lunch to check on our dogs easier and it is close to most daily necessities. We are looking forward to the move from Davos.

It has been nice living in Davos for the past 11 months but it is definitely time for change.

Re: Living in Dubendorf

if anybody has an en suite room in dubendorf, situated in a large apartment or house to rent I would be very interested.

Similarly if anyone has a two bedroom apartment, with kitchen, and sitting room separate to rent i would be interested. would love a large balcony and a complex with gym facilities, if this isnt too expensive

Can people advise me how much this should cost?

If anyone else is moving there soon, maybe you could contact me also, and we could get an apartment together.

I am an Irish male 28, scientist, who loves music, all sports, socialising, cooking, clean houses, barbecues, good fun, and going to pubs.

Happy to live in big house, the more people the merrier for me.

all help appreciated

Hi there,
Just found your message surfing through some information on Duebendorf. We are thinking of getting a dog and would like to know the name of some dog sitters beforehand. Would you mind passing the contact info on? Thanks alot!!

The Kebab place that is next to the Kiosk or the Bar that is across the street?
