Any tips about living in Zug or somewhere between Zug and Zurich

Hi

Just wondering whether anyone has any recommendations regarding living in either Zug or between Zug and Zurich. My work is in Zug and its likely my husband will need a far amount of travel between Switzerland and Germany

We are a couple with no children but looking for a spacious apartment - greater than 150 sqm. Also we will probably have a few visitors (family and friends) visiting from overseas so need something convenvient for that

Any help is much appreciated

Thanks

PH

I'm sorry I don't have a specific apartment to offer you, but as far as narrowing down the field geographically, I can tell you that I live in Langnau am Albis and work in Zug/Steinhausen/Baar, which I find pretty convenient. Most of my social life is in Zürich and Langnau seems to be perfectly situated between the two--Zug and Zürich. I would also broaden the spectrum by adding Thalwil, Adliswil, Gattikon, and other surrounding villages to the search. Thalwil is perhaps the biggest and most convenient of the lot.

Good luck with your search!

I suppose it depends on whether your husband is flying or driving to Germany, although, IMHO anyone who drives to Zurich airport needs their bumps felt. We use the train directly from Zug to the airport, no hassles, traffic or aggravation.
I would go with the suggestion to live more toward Zurich rather thann in Zug. it is very small here, beautiful but small. More going on in ZH and property is a nightmare to find here.

I know a quite a few people who live in Luzern and work in Zug, the rent is cheaper and the town livelier, as well as being incredibly pretty.

If this is more than twice a week commute, then I wouldn't live in Zug. The drive north around Zürich is no fun at all especially in commuter traffic. Once you are north of Zürich it's fine.

An apartment of 150 square meters is relatively hard to find, and it will
definitely cost 3000+ CHF.

I live in Baar which is only about 5 minutes by bus or car. It
is a nice little town with good train connections to Luzern
and Zürich.

Canton Zug offers lower taxes, but the rents are a bit higher.

Amtsblattzug is a good place to find an apartment. Typically, a
new ad comes, and 30-40 people will come and visit a flat.
