Hi All,

Could anyone please suggest a good carpet cleaner in the vicinity of Zurich? I left my window open during last weeks rain and as a result the carpet in my bedroom is completely wet . It is glued to the floor so I can't even take it out and dry it in the sun

Any good advice would be appreciated.

If you are interested in doing it yourself, you can rent a machine at the Coop or Migros possibly (region specific maybe) to save on a company's fees.

actually, your local pharmacy will rent you a machine for next to nothing

Wild guess: "carpet cleaning machine".

If you have wooden floors the first order of business is getting the carpet off the floor, else the wood will soak up humidity and your floor will be thoroughly ****ed.

wet/dry vacuum...

Since you live in Zurich, I can't help you there...Staubsauger fur wasser ???

Have you tried Coop or Migros ? Or your local pharmacy ( ask for Teppichreinigungsmaschine ) ??

You can find these machines for rent at a Drogerie (not the Apotheke).
They commonly are called 'Hagerty' machines for the manufacturer's name.

I rented one for the day from Müller Drogerie, basement level of Jemoli Bahnhofstrasse in Zürich, for CHF 10 plus the cost of the cleaner(CHF 35).

HI I am coming to CH this week to clean my chalet ready for the winter season. I wanted to hire a carpet cleaner, does anyone know if any of the big DIY chains like Jumbo hire carpet cleaners. I am based near Sion and Sierre, any help would be great. Thanks

Is that a full floor carpet or something that can be taken off and brought to a carpet cleaning warehouse?

I know of only one place that does carpet cleaning, they're in Geneva, or at least used to be. They were at the corner in Chene-Bourg where the Chemin de la Gravière and Route de Jussy meet at a round-a-bout (may still be there, haven't driven past the place in 3 or 4 years).

Maybe a google search or quick stop there could bring up something about mobile carpet cleaners...

A lot of drug stores (Drogerei) will rent you one.

Hi Chatetchef, I thought I would have a look in Conthey to see if anything is there. I am not desperate but the chalet is fully booked all season from 18th Dec to mid April. I just wanted to give it a good start. Very exciting that there is snow already, is it in the village?

If there is a COOP DIY in your area you can get the carpet cleaner for free. You only purchase the cleaning detergent from them and its very reasonable.
