Re: How do I complain ?

... I have to excuse myself for not being able to dwell on more practical advises here... Since I am leaving in Switzerland (similar rules apply probably in most other countries in the world too)... I am way past my lunch break and I might need advise how not to get fired if I don't get back to work now

Have a nice day

After more than a year of moving to our flat and planting our shoe case outside our front door, we received a letter from the building owner saying we cannot keep the shoe case there. Too late! The way the coat thingamajig was set up inside precludes putting a shoe case next to it.

In the meantime, most of our neighbours have decorative trunks, plant thingies and such outside their front doors.

Odd as it might seem, the local fire service will have told them that the stairway has to be clear at all times. It is, after all, your only method of escape when the worst is happening.

Fire regulations do vary from Canton to Canton but I'm sure this one applies to all.

You will find it is tolerated until the period inspection occurs (usually) and then you get the letter to clear up.

Yeah, fugly.

Oh, you should so see the plant thingie with two gay-looking scarecrow figures on it. I shall try talking nicely to them scarecrows to persuade them to jump out the landing window but quietly.

I really must get out more often. Running off to Croatia after Euro 2008, yay!

I assure you the compact shoe cabinet is in no one's way and makes no noise. You can run up and down the stairs blindfolded and you won't run into it. Maybe the building owners figured the well-paid cleaner will have less floor space to clean?

My neighbours' decorative stuff takes up a lot more space, come to think of it.

We'll hafta comply if we receive another letter, I guess.
