Re: Our neighbour took down our Christmas lights

Sorry it.s a balcony rather than a patio I guess but its much larger so more like a patio area than a balcony hence the 'balcony/patio'.

How did he get to your balcony?
On a one horse open sleigh.

That old man is so pissed off at the OP, bringing work related Led decorations while he's resting at home!!!

Re: Our neighbour took down our Christmas lights

I find that people who live in apartments often tend to be a little clumsy, accidentally smashing bottles on their own balconies and forgetting to sweep them up. Don't you?

how about soaking the ladder in some Oil or Honey. I am sure you will hear the next time the person atempts to put your lights down.

Then you can have a little talk about the lights.

I'm sorry, but if someone comes onto my property and takes down lights that are in no way offensive and leaves a rude note, I'm not going to just ignore it and 'get on with my life'. I quite like having lights on the balcony, so if there is no regulation against it, I will keep lights on my balcony and just turn them off when we go to bed.

His behavior is much more offensive than mine...

In that case, pretty cryptic. I have no idea what the Ambilight effect from Phillips even is.

It's a fire escape.... and also not on the OP's property. Double trouble if there was an accident.

As it sounds like the lights are fairly innocuous what Nelly should do is put the lights back, remember to turn them off at 10pm, and block the access point from the ladder onto her balcony. At least then she should hear if anyone tries to access her space again and can confront them.

That may well be - BUT if they shine directly into someone's window, and no matter how pretty they are, that person may get a little bit grumpy - especially if they are left on over night.
Put them back up and turn them off when you go to bed or 10pm(ish) - and see what happens.

You'll be pleased to know we have a string of lights (including dangly ones) along the front of our mansion, dangly ones over the west-wings dining hall main door - and internal window displays in the east-wings drawing room.

I only have a picture of the front garden with the trees decorated
Do you live in Disney Land?

Re: Our neighbour took down our Christmas lights

OK, I found this:

Die Weihnachtsbeleuchtung dürfe jeweils vom 1. Advent bis zum 6. Januar bis 1.00 Uhr nachts betrieben werden.

This means that you can make pretty much any lights decoration that you want. You just have to turn them of at 01:00

The Part with 22:00, thats the time "normal" outdoor lights should be turned of in CH (but this is not the case for Christmas lights in Advent!)

Good luck

Our village used to have a light advent calendar - people volunteered to put up decorations in their window on each date up till christmas & there was also an apéro calendar when people hosted outdoor drinkies for anyone to go to which was very pleasant if rather cold. But it's all died out now due to lack of participation. The outdoor decorations put up got vandalised every year so no one does that anymore either.
We still have that here and life is just one round of apéros every evening between December 1st and Christmas. It's tough but we somehow nanage to drag ourselves along to them all.

Obviously they haven't read EF about trying to talk politely to (your neighbours) each other before going full on menopausal fruit fly.
