Lake view in Zurich?

Hi!

I am in the midst of searching for a new property with a size of abt 4rm apt.
Can anybody tell me if Mannedorf is a prime district to live in or r there any prime address?

I heard about the gold coast in switzerland but is it overhyped? Does lake view made the wow factor of the apt? Is it more posh to live in Kusnacht without any view or Mannedorf with lake view?

Thanks!

Depends on how long a person plans on staring aimlessly out a window..
Personally I find the view overlooking Lake Zurich (from the gold coast) boring (no real majestic mountains on the opposite side).

Re: Lake view in Zurich?

I live opposite the gold coast and the sun rise over the lake now is just great, 06:11.

Ditto here, I'm opposite the gold coast. Benefits? Beautiful, calming view of the lake, mountains in the distance, 4 season view of the gold coast. If you can find an apartment with larger windows, it brings the outside right in. I wanted to live with a view of the lake while we are here - don't know when that chance may arise again.

Good luck.

Re: Lake view in Zurich?

"Is it more posh" ? What are you doing here, trying to elevate your status in life, or find somewhere to live ? Männedorf is worth but dull. Küsnacht is worthy and closer to civilization. Both have village feel; good rail connections and low tax.

Re: Lake view in Zurich?

What I know about Kusnacht is that it is considered more "posh" than other areas. I've also heard that there are a lot of Americans living there, if that is also of interest.

Re: Lake view in Zurich?

Clearly yours is a stab in the dark. You may as well have said "looking for answers....we're all looking for answers". Is the OP looking for endorsement concerning the posher place to live or whether a lake-view would impress more than none ?

If you're concerned about the 'posh-factor' of the address you quote to potential employers/friends/others, then go for Küsnacht. Golden rule for the Gold Coast is the closer to Zürich, but still on the 'Coast' the more posh the address. Once said employers/friends/others visit your apartment, nail the posh factor by having a lake view. Points are lost if the view is of a wall or the neighbours' balcony.

But....you could also not worry about the worthiness of your address and really just go for the apartment which feels best to YOU.

Barbra.

PS no bias here, but Männedorf rules!!

Re: Lake view in Zurich?

The point-scoring thing is clearly important. I suggest you hand out a questionnaire to your apartment-visitors asking salient questions to ensure that you have quantitive evidence that you are held in suitably high regard. Or you could just buy an apartment that makes you happy with its location and ambience.

I consider lake view, Rappi castle and the Voralpen to be <yawn> very nice.

Given places to live can be densely-populated, I would perhaps value it more in an apartment.

Are you located in Zurich now, Evangeline?

Re: Lake view in Zurich?

The gold coast is so passé, dahling...

Head for the diamond coast.

(Don't let that soupçon of Kuhmist in the air fool you - that's just how one filters out the hoi-polloi. Discretion is the new posh.)

Seriously - Live wherever, however you feel the most comfortable. Little else matters.
