We may be moving to Zurich in a few months. I know it's largely a matter of preference but - are there any areas that are known to be very kid friendly? For instance - lots of parks/playgrounds, lots of other kids, safe (thought I get the impression everywhere in Zurich is safe!), good for walking.

Any ideas appreciated!

yep, pretty much anywhere fits that criteria. When new developments are build child play areas are factored into the planning. Available budget is usually the deciding factor for most people as some areas still come out more expensive (i.e. near the lake really expensive).

I'd advise living in one of the villages out of the city for max. family friendliness.

If you think Zurich is safe - go to Schaffhausen!

And it takes less than 1 hour by train to Zurich's main.

I went to Lausanne recently. My car was broken into - and brief case with laptop, etc. was stolen. Needless to say - not highly recommended by me.

Hi, try Thalwil, is just 10 minutes by train, have playgrounds, schools, kinderkrippe, and more

Avoid Kreise 4 generally (though there would be ok areas there too) and maybe downtown Oerlikon...Elsewhere should be no worry.
