We found an apartment (finally) through homegate which was listed by a housing agent. Besides hooking us up with the landlady, the agent did nothing else. We liaised with our landlady re signing of the contract, handover of the apartment all by ourselves. The agent is now asking 75% of the monthly rental as her commission.

I am really not sure how involved housing agents are in Switzerland. But from my experience renting in the UK and renting out our own home, housing agents were much more involved than what I've experienced with this one. In my opinion, paying 75% of a month's rental just for her apartment listing and the landlady's contact is a bit cheeky? I am not planning not to pay but just dont really want to be taken for a ride, if that makes sense?

Anyone has thoughts on this?
