If a Swiss apartment is bought by a B permit holder and say a year later the holder moves away from Switzerland because of a job change does he have to sell the apartment if it is not permitted to hold the particular property as a foreigner?

Not true - the solicitor we were at to get all the legal paper sorted when we bought our house in both of our names (hubby British & me Swiss), just said that a B-permit holder can only buy one property in Switzerland.

I had a colleague on an L-Permit who got loans authorized for not one but two apartments at the same time. He dropped one, bought the other, then left CH.

I don't know what happened to him since, but I remember him telling me that there was a size restriction on the property depending on permit status.

B for Big
L for Little
C for Colossal

My Notary in Switzerland has told me it is OK to buy as many Swiss properies as I can afford with a B Permit. I didn't ask the 'what if' query I have posed on this site because I didn't wish to open that box if I didn't need to!!

There seem to be mixed views on the question to date. Anyone actually been through this hoop recently? Experience is worth a lot in this instance...

Can someone confirm the following for a B-Permit NON-EU citizen.

1) Can only buy a house in their resident canton, which must be a primary residence.
2) Cannot buy a holiday home which is what I would like to do.
