Info re. Frauenfeld

I think this is probably the wrong forum for this post so I'll re-post it in a more appropriate one

Sorry folks

Hi all
We're looking for a house to rent which is commutable to Opfikon and have seen ads (homegate etc) for a few in and around Frauenfeld. A Swiss friend in Winterthur said however they wouldn't recommend Frauenfeld to someone new to the area (we're coming from Geneva and don't speak German - yet) as it has something of a "closed" village mentality. I've heard it from a Swiss colleague too and I'm beginning to think the other side of Winterthur is like the dark side of the moon! Personally, I would rather live in a village or small town than in a city or large town but that's not to say we're looking for the kind of place where everyone stops and stares at you if you walk into the local shop/bar/restaurant.
Does anyone share this opinion of Frauenfeld?
I've also read on a post here (can't remember which) that one of the down-sides of Thurgau is its schools. Any thoughts on this aspect? We have a 6 and a 2 year old but wouldn't want to have to move again in a few years time to find a better school.
Any help on this would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Info re. Frauenfeld

Hi

We are moving to Switzerland in a few weeks, we have a 6 and 2 year old. We have found a place in Frauenfeld, about to sign off on it. I was wondering if you ended up going the Frauenfeld route? If you did - do you enjoy living there....
