Bathroom adjacent to Kitchen - legal?

This may be somewhat of a Swiss question, but now I've lived here for two years I feel qualified to ask!

I am interested in buying a flat in Romanel-sur-Lausanne which is a converted farmhouse/barn. One of the 'features' of this flat is that the bathroom is accessed by a door opening out of the kitchen. This means that you walk through the kitchen to get to the bathroom, and the two are next door to each other.

Personally I don't think this is a big deal, however I learnt that this would actually be illegal in the UK due to the transmission of bugs between the two.

Does anyone know whether this is also illegal in Switzerland? My concern is that I buy the flat only to have problems selling in the future.... or have to do something crazy like move the bathroom.

Of course, perhaps Swiss bathrooms are so clean there is no problem with bugs going into the kitchen

Thanks

Suffolk

Re: Bathroom adjacent to Kitchen - legal?

in the UK for rental properties, you must have two doors between kitchen and bathroom. If you're not renting, I believe it does not matter.

If you have concerns here, maybe contact your local renters' association who will give you the definitive answer?

I've moved this to apartments in Market Place - even though it strictly does not belong there, it makes sense for those seeking and offering places to see this in that forum.

Re: Bathroom adjacent to Kitchen - legal?

Thanks, as I want to be free to rent it out that could be an important point. I apologise if this is a frequently asked question, but where can I find details of the renters association for Romanel-sur-Lausanne?

Thanks - I will make some enquiries and post the result. My French is not great, but this will be a good test!

Re: Bathroom adjacent to Kitchen - legal?

FWIW the one bedroom flat my husband sub-let when we were in the process of moving was set up that way. TBH I never really gave it a thought. This was an older property - an old home that had been subdivided into flats, so I figure it had something to do with economizing on the cost of the labor involved, or with simplifying the plumbing layout.

Re: Bathroom adjacent to Kitchen - legal?

Thanks - I have talked with the rental association, and they confirmed it should not be a problem - so one less rule in Switzerland than in the UK!
