My wife and I are a British couple and would like to buy a holiday home in Ticino. As foreigners, are we allowed to rent it out ? We have had contradicting replies from different estate agents.

" The accommodation cannot be rented on an annual basis (maximum 11 month and one week) as the owner, or his friends, or family, are supposed to use the property for at least three weeks of the year."
info may have changed, so get check it out with someone ie lawyer.

Well that is actually not a surprise!

It depends where the holiday home is and under what permission, if any, you have got it. Put simply as long as you are occasionally present there will not be a problem but you do need to declare to the Gemeinde all the times when it is rented and you may not enter into a long term rental agreement.
