There are cardboard ("karton") collections eery so often from the street. I've been trying to find a webpage where you can enter your address and they'll tell you when it is (I'm pretty sure there is one, and I've used it). You need to flatten the boxes down and bundle them up, but other than that it's easy. Alternatively of course, you can advertise them here and someone who's moving could use them

Re: recycling big cardboard boxes in zurich

You should get a calender every year from the ERZ, detailing which week / day your post code will be up for collection of cardboard, paper, clothes, blah blah blah blah. You can dispose of them then.

Alternatively, go to this site - which I suspect InselAffe is referring to:

http://www.stadt-zuerich.ch/ted/de/i...skalender.html

All the streets in Zurich are listed. Just select yours and what you want to recycle. Should list the dates for collection for your house, for the entire year.

Take it to Ikea if you have a car. You can put it in one of the bins inside near the entrance.

If they are standard boxes for moving, advertise it here on the "FREE STUFF" section, I am sure someone will want them for their next move

If not you can get rid of them at IKEA. Thats what I always do

Re: recycling big cardboard boxes in zurich

thanks for the info. they are not really standard boxes, just a couple, and generally beat up by the baggage throwers, so i don't think anybody wants them for moving again, and thanks for the ikea rec, but no car.

this website looks promising...i've managed to find karton recycling and get to where i put in my address (i don't speak german), but then there is no "enter" button? what am i missing on how to get the schedule for my location? thanks!

I dont speak German either and when you dont, its a case of using Google translate to find out what you want.

There should be a button called "Kalender anzeigen" once you've entered your address and checked the Karton box, which will show you the schedule relevant to your address.

I dont think it can be explained any clearer.
