I have the worst estate agents ever! Does anyone know if there is a professional body to support tenants' rights please?

It's because it is a sellers/renters market on the whole and they get their kicks out of being as useless as possible and make mere mortals like us miserable, most probably makes them feel great.

The local cantonal office is a good place to start with regards to your rights as a tennant, they were good in giving us advice here in Geneva.

Suggest you join the tenants' association (ASLOCA) or www.asloca.ch
They offer legal advice and support in dealing with landlords.

Yes, asloca is there for the tenants. They won't charge you an arm and a leg for advice, and if you know a few of the asloca members personally, you could maybe even get a bit of free advice (as happens to be the case for me...).
