We'll be moving there from the U.S. for a long term diplomatic posting and we're looking to rent a small house or apartment near Geneva or up to Nyon, on that side of the lake.

Our budget is SF 6000/month. We'll have a car but good public transport options to Geneva would be important.

If anybody know anything, please let us know.

Also, if you know what internet and TV services are available in that area that would be helpful.

i don't think you'll have too much trouble with that budget

we have found www.comparis.ch really useful

and this map http://map.search.ch/index.en.html will let you zoom right in, you can often see the property, it has great links to bus/train/tram timetables, and you can check out what facilities are in the area.

There's no cable, only ADSL so far.

Well, my husband and I have just posted an annoucement today, to sell OR RENT OUT our apartment in France just across the boarder from Geneva. The price is ONLY sfr 2.500/month but it sounds very much like what you are looking for: very clsoe to geneva (North side) and airport (15mn by car each) AND DIRECT BUS LINE TO TOWN - however only every 30mn to 1h, depending on the time.

Hello, I am new to this forum, it looks great. I am currently in the US and looking to move to Geneva early next year (maybe). so I am doing some research and trying to prepare.

I have a strange situtation, I am looking for a farm to rent, I have dogs, cats and horses to relocate. I would be working for the UN so access via car/bus is necessary.

Not sure where to begin regarding what town, I have been there once, stayed in France, so that is also an option, but I believe it would be easier to be in the host country.

Anyone with some experience regarding large animal transport and suggestions on how to look for rental farm property. I will be in the country at least two years, possibily as long as 6.
