toilet help - anyone know a german or french plumber near Basel

Hi did you know that a bottom (ha!) of the line swiss toilet costs 900CHF - so what we need is a recommendation of a bathroom renovator who lives across the border from Basel - anyone recommend someone?
thanks

Rubbish, just go to Hornbach.

Fine Switzerland is expensive but it's not as bad as some of you make out, it's just you don't know where to go or how to negotiate in a national language.

Rackiec,

The listed prices - which I agree are often shocking - are not necessarily what you will have to pay. Most plumbers, tilers, electricians, etc. will be able to get you a discount off that list price; one factor in deciding which plumber to use is how much of a discount he/she can get you.

When we renovated, I had offers from plumbing firms including discounts between 5% and 35% of the list price for materials. It pays to shop around.

Good luck with your project.

Cross the border to France and go to Bricorama: we bought a good quality ceramic loo recently for €89 and after a little fiddling about, installed it ourselves.

Re: toilet help - anyone know a german or french plumber near Basel

Hi - just to let you know - we lived in Strasbourg so know France and Germany shopping very well - we actually purchased 3 toilets ourselves - one here at the Coop Bau for about 200CHF and 2 others in France and the plumber we used said they wouldn't fit - and actually the post was about needing a plumber not needing a toilet!

So if anyone knows of a good German or French plumber I would welcome the details.
